Lunar New Year Lunch

SWA has been organizing the Lunar New Year Luncheon for the Elderly since 1977. PetroChina International (Singapore) Pte Ltd is the anchor sponsor of the event and has partnered with SWA since 2006 to share this “Chun Jie” (春节) festivity with the old folks and to bring cheers to our needy elderly friends. The lunch was held usually after the 15th day of the first month in the Lunar New Year. Er Ku was engaged to provide the entertainment programme. Approximately 300 seniors participate annually. The attendees enjoy a sumptuous Halal & Non-Halal Chinese lunch. Each senior receives red packets and a goody bag. The participants consistently enjoy the innovative and nostalgic performances featuring retro acts and songs coordinated by the entertaining artists arranged by Er Ku. PetroChina has pledged ongoing support to continue sponsoring this event. We receive positive feedback from the seniors who attend the lunch and thank you letters from the participating homes.

On 19th February 2025, PetroChina and SWA hosted the 17th Chinese New Year luncheon at Chuay Huay Lim Club for seniors from eight Active Ageing Centres (AACs). Some members of the PCSG management and volunteers also went on stage to put up a special performance. By the end of the event, the seniors were all delighted. Goodie bags filled with milk powder and biscuits were also distributed to the seniors.
