A Joyful Evening of Laughter and Bonding at the Gurkha Cantonment

By Singapore Women's Association, 21 June, 2025

On 21 June 2025, the Singapore Women’s Association (SWA) Laughter Yoga Wellness Club was delighted to conduct a lively and heartwarming one-hour Laughter Yoga session for the community at the Gurkha Cantonment. The session brought together about 100 participants, including Gurkha officers and their family members, for an evening of connection, wellness, and joyful laughter.

Building Community Through Wellness

The objective of the session was to foster better communication, strengthen social bonds, and promote overall wellness through the simple yet powerful practice of Laughter Yoga. The evening began with a brief introduction to the concept and benefits of Laughter Yoga, followed by a series of clapping exercises and deep breathing techniques to warm up the body and mind.

An Evening of Joy and Connection

Participants then engaged in a variety of laughter exercises, mind games, and interactive group music activities, designed to release stress, build camaraderie, and create a sense of community through shared joy. The energy in the room was infectious, and it was heartening to see active participation from everyone, including children alike.

Spreading Wellness and Happiness

The session concluded with a round of group laughter and a cheerful Bollywood dance, leaving everyone in high spirits and relaxed. Many participants expressed how much they enjoyed the unique experience and appreciated the opportunity to learn a wellness practice they could easily adopt at home.

We sincerely hope that this introduction to Laughter Yoga inspires the Gurkha community to continue practicing laughter exercises regularly and experience its benefits for their mind, body, and spirit.

Thank you to the Gurkha Cantonment for warmly welcoming us — we look forward to laughing together again soon!
