Welcome Address

Ms Lee Li Hua, President, Singapore Women's Association

Good afternoon, Mr Ng Shi Xuan, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC, Mr Sun Jinhua, Managing Director of PetroChina International (Singapore), and his management team and volunteers, SWA members, and all our dear seniors — gong gong, popo, aunties and uncles.

I am Lee Li Hua, President of the Singapore Women's Association. It is a pleasure to welcome you all to our Lunar New Year lunch. Thank you for joining us today. It is wonderful to see so many familiar faces gathered together to share a meal, good conversation, and warm company.

Events like this remind us how important community is — the laughter, the shared stories, and the simple joy of spending time with one another.

We are especially grateful to our sponsor and long-time partner, PetroChina International (Singapore). Their generous support since 2006 has made this luncheon possible year after year. When organisations invest in community programmes like this, they help strengthen our connections and create moments of joy and companionship for those who deserve them most. On behalf of everyone here, thank you, PetroChina Singapore, for your commitment to our community and for standing with us as partners.

To our seniors: thank you for the contributions you have shared with Singapore throughout the years. This afternoon is for you — to relax, enjoy good food, and be celebrated. We hope you feel appreciated and cared for, not just today, but every day.

A heartfelt thank you as well to the supervisors from the Active Ageing Centres, PetroChina volunteers, SWA members, and friends who helped make today possible. Your time and care mean a great deal to everyone here.

Please enjoy the meal, the company, and the activities planned for you this afternoon.

Guest-of-Honour, Mr Ng Shi Xuan,
Distinguished Guests from Singapore Women's Association,
Dear Seniors, Ladies and Gentlemen:

Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the SWA and PetroChina Chinese New Year lunch for seniors! It is such a joy to be back with you today. After joining this event last year, I am delighted to celebrate this special occasion together once again.

This lunch is more than just a celebration—it is a moment for us to come together, share smiles, and show our care for our seniors. PetroChina Singapore is proud to have partnered with SWA since 2006 for this meaningful charity lunch. Through this long-standing collaboration, we hope to continue bringing warmth, companionship, and festive cheer to seniors across nursing homes.

We are especially honoured to have Mr Ng with us today. Thank you for your support – your presence makes this gathering even more special.

As the saying goes, "家有一老,如有一宝." An elder in the family is like a treasure. Your wisdom, your experiences, and the stories you share are precious gifts for all of us. Today, we celebrate you, we honour you, and we thank you for the many ways you have touched the lives of your families and our community.

As we welcome the Year of the Horse, a symbol of vitality and strength, I wish each of you joy, good health, and many happy moments.

May this year be filled with warmth, laughter, and more memories.

Thank you for being here, and let's enjoy this special celebration lunch together!
