She won the Gold Medal and Book Prize in Ophthalmology, and received a Distinction Award for Ophthalmology-related research for her Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program in medical school at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Since then, she has won several Ophthalmology-related awards including: Eye Foundation Award – National Ophthalmology Residents Research Day 2014, Best Young Teacher Award – NUH Ophthalmology 2014, Winner of Free Paper – Confluence 2013, and Best Paper Award – NUHS Residents Research Day 2011.
Her passion in Oculoplastics-related research has led her to win several research grants including:
SNEC HREF Study grant, NUHS Clinician Scientist Program Residency Grant, and SERI Pilot Grant. She is also actively involved in the study of eyelid disorders such as ptosis, and collaborates closely with engineers from NUS on research in the field to improve the diagnosis and management of eyelid disorders.
Aside from clinical work and research, Dr Young is a clinical lecturer with the NUS Clinical Faculty Scheme and teaches medical students as well as junior doctors. She strongly believes in giving back actively to society and sits on the executive committee of Singapore Women’s Association, where she runs monthly free eye screening events for the poor and underprivileged as part of the Singapore Visioncare Programme. She has also been volunteering for many cataract and Oculoplastic trips to remote areas in need of eyecare in China, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Dr Lim is currently a Consultant with the department of Ophthalmology at the National University Hospital and Alexandra Hospital. She completed her undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. She was then awarded the Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2018 and inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore) upon successful completion of her residency training in 2020.
Her clinical passion centers around Oculoplastics and Orbit, as well as ongoing work with General Ophthalmology and Cataract, advocating for the Low Vision Community and Community Eye Health Programmes.
She has a special heart for education and was awarded the Junior Doctor Teaching Award in 2016 and 2017. She has also received the SSO Young Ophthalmologist Research Award in 2017. In addition, she was privileged to have been awarded the Young Eye Care Ambassador at the Eye and Vision Health Awards in 2019.

Ho Shiong Yee served as Assistant General Secretary of the United Workers of Petroleum Industry (UWPI) and Branch Secretary from 1986 till March 2022. She was promoted as the Deputy Office Manager of The Polyolefin Company (Singapore) Pte Ltd since March 2022, overseeing the administrative function in both Jurong Island Office and HQ in Beach Road.
She has also served as the Vice Chairperson of the NTUC Women Committee, championing flexible work arrangements and work-life balance in addition to involvement in other labour movement initiatives such as membership as well as one of the union representatives in the tripartite committee for Industrial Relation Act.
Beyond Company and Union, she was able to spread her advocacy to reach out to back-to-work women, single mother projects and, currently, the Vice Chairperson for SCWO Star Shelter Committee.
From 2006 to 2010, she also championed the upholding of marriages and family values as a National Family Council Committee Member in MSF (back then known as MCYS).
From 2014 to 2018, served as 1st & 3rd Vice Presidents of the Singapore Council of Women Organisation and participated in the United Nations, NY, on Opening Group Discussion of Ageing.
In 2018, she represented NTUC at the CEDAW Convention in United Nations, Geneva.
From 2018 to 2021, Vice Chair of Mindef Advisory Council for Community Relations in Defence Accord) Participated in overseas conferences in ITUC World Conferences and Global Industrial Union.

For over a decade, I have been actively involved with a charitable Buddhist center, contributing both time and resources to promote spiritual growth and community well-being. Additionally, my participation in international events such as the FAWA in Korea (2014) and Japan (2023) highlights my commitment to cultural exchange and global collaboration.
My engagement extends beyond cultural spheres to encompass social welfare initiatives. I have volunteered extensively with SWA dedicating efforts to initiatives ranging from eye screenings to supporting the annual charity dinners. Notably, my contributions have spanned six consecutive years, reflecting sustained dedication to societal betterment.

Sara was elected SWA President in March 2002 and appointed Advisor in 2014. SWA in 1959 is a founding member of the Federation of Asia-Pacific Women’s Association (FAWA) and Sara is actively involved since 1982. She had the opportunity to work and learning from our Founding President, the late Mrs Seow Peck Leng and was actively involved in the FAWA Convention held in Singapore in 1982, 1986 and as chair in 2004. Sara was elected FAWA International President 2014-2016 in Seoul, Korea and hosted the 22nd FAWA Convention in October 2016 in Singapore. At the 23rd FAWA Convention in Manila, Philippines, Sara is appointed Advisor since 2018. She had also served three terms on the SCWO Board.
Sara is instrumental in organizing fund-raising events for SWA’s local and overseas projects like film benefit, Himalaya. And mooted SWA Project Literacy–Education Through Theatre for PA Nepal, a home for children of prisoners. She attended the UN Forum ‘85 World Conference on Women in Nairobi and Beijing+25 in 1995. Presented country papers at Conventions and chaired Panel of Speakers and Workshops. In 2018, Sara launched the ongoing Project Taking Charge in 2018 for women from abused families living in shelters and currently as part of the committee for Project Rebuild 2021, a financial assistance scheme for women and children when leaving the shelters. For community outreach for seniors in day care centers during the pandemic, we at SWA launched Virtual Laughter for Health & Joy in 2020 with Certified Laughter Leaders & Ambassadors

Susy had been involved with the Singapore Vision Care Program (SVP), an initiative for seniors in the early detection and prevention of any eye disorders, thus improving their vision and quality of life. SVP was mooted and launched by SWA Founding President, the late Mrs Seow Peck Leng in April 1990.
In 2001, Susy was elected President of the Federation of Asia-Pacific Women’s Association (FAWA) during the Convention in Jakarta, Indonesia. Susy, FAWA International President hosted the 2004 FAWA Convention in Singapore. SWA board members together with all FAWA delegates were honored to be invited to the Istana for Tea with Mrs. Nathan, wife of our then President of Singapore, Mr. S R Nathan.
During her term, Susy witnessed many successes of the various SWA projects and the Miss Singapore Pageant fundraising project.

Charlotte is the Director of Communications for the Singapore Women’s Association (SWA). She has supported the annual Charity Gala and as well as SWA's various volunteer initiatives since getting to know about the organization in 2019 through the Miss Singapore Pageant International program.
Charlotte works full time as a public relations account executive, and hopes her profession experience will compliment the work she does for and with SWA.
