Singapore Women's Association (SWA) and PetroChina International (Singapore) Pte Ltd (PetroChina) recently organised a heartwarming initiative to bring some festive cheer to senior citizens during the Chinese New Year period. The joint effort involved visits to several senior care homes in February 2023. The main objective of these visits was to spread joy and happiness among elderly individuals who often feel lonely and isolated during the holiday season.
The volunteers from the SWA and PetroChina went the extra mile to ensure that the residents of the senior care homes were well-taken care of. The SWA prepared Bento Sets and Ang Pao packets. At the same time, PetroChina packed goodie bags containing bird nests, essence of chicken, adult milk, and mandarin oranges for distribution to seniors.
The first visit was to Tai Pei Old People's Home, which has around 100 residents. On February 1st, seven volunteers from PetroChina, visited and helped distribute goodie bags, ang pao, and bento sets. From SWA, there was Wendy Khon (1st Vice President) and Stephanie Young(3rd Vice President)

On February 7th, the team visited Ren Ci @ Bukit Batok (Nursing Home), which has 252 residents. A group of 22 volunteers from PetroChina and their Senior Vice President of Refining, Foo Jang See, came together to distribute the goodie bags and bento sets. From SWA, there were Lee Li Hua(President), Charlotte Chia(Miss Singapore International 2019) and Angeline Yang(Board Member).

The next stop was Sree Narayana Mission Nursing Home, which has 220 residents, on February 8th. There were 13 volunteers from PetroChina, who worked alongside the SWA volunteers to distribute the goodie bags and bento sets. From SWA, there were Sara Mei Woo(Board Advisor) and Roxanne Zhang(Miss Singapore International 2015 and Board Member).

Finally, the team visited Jamiyah Nursing Home, which has 180 residents, on February 9th. Due to dietary requirement, 80 residents received bento sets and goodie bags. There were 15 volunteers from PetroChina Singapore (International) Pte Ltd with their Managing Director Li Shaolin and Executive Vice President Wang BaoChang. From SWA, there were Wendy Khon(1st Vice President) and Charlotte Chia (Miss Singapore International 2019).

Overall, the joint effort by Singapore Women's Association and PetroChina International (Singapore) Pte. Ltd was a huge success. The volunteers not only brought smiles to the faces of the elderly but also demonstrated the importance of community service and caring for others.
