In the vibrant spirit of the Year of the Dragon, the Singapore Women's Association (SWA) held its Annual Lunar New Year Luncheon for Seniors on February 29, 2024. This festive event was held at the Chui Huay Lim Club, where over 300 esteemed seniors from different communities and senior homes gathered to celebrate the new year in unity and joy.

On a bright and cheerful Saturday, 27th January 2024, the Singapore Women's Association (SWA) had the delightful opportunity to spread laughter and joy at the Mass Birthday cum Chinese New Year Celebration held at Banda AAC. This heartwarming event was graced by the spirited presence of our SWA Laughter Yoga Club, led by the talented Teacher Fang Fang, alongside the enthusiastic Leaders Kim Chi and Linda.

The Singapore Women's Association is immensely thankful for the unwavering support of the Tote Board through the Enhanced Fund-Raising (EFR) Programme. This initiative has presented us with a remarkable opportunity – a dollar-for-dollar match for eligible donations, up to $250,000 for each charity.

Singapore Women's Association (SWA), in partnership with Symrise Asia Pte Ltd, hosted a festive lunch at Safra Toa Payoh on December 2, 2023. The event was a harmonious blend of fun, performances, and community outreach, bringing together families from Star Shelter, Anglican Family Centre, and Casa Raudha Ltd. 

Today was remarkable for SWA and Braddell Heights Harmony Circle, as 152 people, including volunteers, had their eyes screened. Thank you to Wendy Khon for her pivotal role and Kevin for his efforts in involving all zones ensuring a great turnout.

On the bright and cheerful weekend of November 4th and 5th, 2023, a bubbling Certified Laughter Yoga Leader training session was masterfully guided by the vibrant trio Feng Fang, Angela Wong, and Tan Lee Hua. It was a joyous occasion where three enthusiastic participants, Linda Tham, Chooi Peng Leong, and Hoang Thi Kim Chi, successfully blossomed into Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders.

The Singapore Women's Association (SWA) embarked on an unforgettable journey to Tokyo, Japan, from September 15th to 18th, 2023, as they attended the 24th Federation of Asia-Pacific Women's Association (FAWA) Convention. This international gathering of inspiring women from across the region was an enriching experience filled with camaraderie, knowledge-sharing, and unforgettable moments.

On a vibrant day on August 19th, 2023, the Singapore Women's Association (SWA) organized a heartwarming National Day Celebration for the senior residents of Ren Ci. The event, held at Ren Ci @ Irrawaddy in Novena, was a testament to community spirit and the dedication of the Singapore Women's Association. 

SWA Laughter Yoga Team conducted a laughter yoga session for about 40 students at the School of Sports, Health and Leisure, Republic Polytechnic. Another 20 students watched the session via Team virtual meeting. 

On this joyous occasion of our 58th National Day, we are inspired by this year's theme, "Onward As One." As we look to the future with hope and anticipation, let us take a moment to acknowledge the incredible journey we have brought together. 

The first run of Project Taking Charge in 2023 was from 10 June to 1 August. Seven lessons included life planning, communication, interview, image presentation, image styling, customer care skills and feedback. 

22nd July 2023 was Racial Harmony Day, and the Singapore Women's Association (SWA) played a significant role in making it memorable.

The 46th SWA Annual Charity Gala was not just an evening of glamour and elegance but a beacon of hope and generosity. As a pivotal fundraising event organized by the Singapore Women's Association, it underscored the unwavering commitment to uplift and support the vulnerable sections of our community. The success of the Gala was made possible by the generous contributions of our sponsors, whose belief in the cause and generous support played an instrumental role. Their partnership was a testament to the collective spirit of giving and making a difference in the lives of many.

As part of the transformative initiative Project Rebuild, the Singapore Women's Association and Symrise Asia Pacific Pte Ltd organized a visit to River Wonders for women and children from Star Shelter, AFC Temporary Refuge, and Casa Raudha, three adopted homes on 24th June 2023

SWA Laughter Yoga Team conducted a community outreach programme on Laughter Yoga in National Library Board

We are very grateful to Nunchi Marine Pte Ltd for their generous donation of S$10,000 to support the Singapore Women's Association (SWA). This contribution will significantly impact our community, enabling us to continue providing vital eye care services through the Singapore VisionCare Programme and organizing special events to bring joy and companionship to our seniors.

Singapore Women's Association (SWA) was invited to conduct an eye screening exercise at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital on 18 Mar 2023, Saturday. SWA supplied eye examination equipment and volunteers for this event. This one-day event managed to help up to 88 patients with eye screening.

Singapore Women's Association(SWA) celebrate International Women's Day on 8th March 2023 under the theme #EmbraceEquity. #EmbraceEquity campaign aims to stress that equity isn't just a nice-to-have and that a focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society's DNA. Understanding the difference between equity and equality is critical, and true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.

Singapore Women's Association (SWA) and PetroChina International (Singapore) Pte Ltd (PetroChina) recently organised a heartwarming initiative to bring some festive cheer to senior citizens during the Chinese New Year period. The joint effort involved visits to several senior care homes in February 2023. The main objective of these visits was to spread joy and happiness among elderly individuals who often feel lonely and isolated during the holiday season.

SWA Laughter Yoga Team conducted a laughter yoga session for about 60 seniors at Kreta Ayer Senior Activity Centre (Banda SAC) 
 

As part of Project Rebuild, Singapore Women's Association and Symrise Asia Pte Ltd organised a year-end lunch event for women and their children from the adopted home shelters - Star Shelter, AFC Temporary Refuge and Casa Raudha Ltd.

SWA Laughter Yoga Team conducted regular laughter yoga session for about 20 seniors at SNM care centre every Tuesday morning, 10am to 11am. The team is led by Sara Mei Woo, Laughter Yoga Trainer and Ambassador  Fang Feng, Faith Ong and Angela Wong. The programme include the introduction and benefits of Laughter Yoga, Clapping, breathing exercises, Laughter Yoga exercises, singing and dancing.  Physical trial session started in Sep to Oct for two months. 

On 11 October 2022, the Laughter Yoga team led by Sara Mei Woo, Laughter Yoga Trainer and Ambassador conducted a laughter yoga session for about 20 seniors at CDAC Yishun Centre. The programme included the introduction of Laughter Yoga, Clapping, breathing exercises, singing and fun activities. The seniors participated in the exercises actively. Team members Fang Feng, and Faith Ong, who are Laughter Yoga leaders and ambassadors, received very good responses through the physical laughter yoga session. The seniors enjoyed themselves in the laughter exercises

Singapore Women's Association participated in SASCO@West Coast Integrated Elder Care Centre, Lions SaveSight Centre Eye Screening project on 25 Sep 2022 Sunday 9 am to 1.00 pm. SWA provided eye examination equipment and volunteers for this event. Up to 101 of their senior residents were screened. 

Singapore Women Association (SWA) and our valued partners Ren Ci Hospital and ACE Seniors collaborated and delivered our annual NDP event in 2022. This is a promise made to the residents at Ren Ci Hospital to incite a twinkle in their eyes. We are proud to share that our members and volunteers of SWA never failed to uphold this traditional NDP event even throughout the last 2 years. This is made possible by your generosity in our annual fundraising charity dinner.

On 13 August 2022, the Laughter Yoga team led by Sara Mei Woo, Laughter Yoga Trainer and Ambassador, conducted a laughter yoga session for about 60 seniors at Banda SAC. The programme included the introduction of Laughter Yoga, Clapping, breathing exercises, singing and fun activities. 

Singapore Women's Association participated in the eye screening on 31st July 2022 at Lions Befriender Queenstown Mei Ling Active Ageing Centre AAC. This is an activity by Lions SaveSight Centre, various lion clubs, SNEC and SWA

A Clapping Hands session was led by Vijaya Mohan for SWA members and friends. 23 participants joined the zoom event on 2 July. It was a fun and enjoyable session. Members learnt the benefits of clapping and pressing the acupressure points for self-healing and wellness. Vijaya is a Rangoli artist, Art therapist and also Clapping hands Therapist.

Singapore Women Association (SWA) and Symrise embarked on Project Rebuild in November 2021 to assist women and children impacted by domestic violence and take temporary refuge in the shelter to rebuild their lives for better futures.

SWA Laughter Yoga Team conducted a laughter yoga session for about 15 seniors at CDAC Tampines Centre. 

NDP Cheers 2021 bought National Day Parade celebrations to 8300 residents of 31 Nursing homes. Dr Tan Bee Wan, Executive Chairman and Ms Tang Wai San, Executive Director of ACE Senior presented a painting to Lee Li Hua, President of Singapore Women’s Association (SWA). This is in appreciation of the support from SWA in NPD Cheers 2021. Singapore Women Association has been collaborating with ACE Seniors to bring NDP celebrations to nursing homes and the community hospital since 2017.

Break the bias- What is bias? To break a bias, we need to understand the core of how it developed and what it means contextually to each individual. Can we recognise the colour and impact of our own bias?

As part of Changi Simei CC International Women's Day Celebration programme on 6 March 2022, SWA Laughter Yoga and Wellness club was invited to share with the residents in Changi Simei area with a twenty minutes Laughter Yoga

The Theme for International Women's Day (IWD) on 8 March 2022 (IWD2022) is " Gender equality today for sustainable tomorrow", recognising the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation and response, to build a more sustainable future for all.

As part of Casa Raudha International Women's Day Celebration programme on 5 March 2022, SWA Laughter Yoga and Wellness club was invited to share with the residents in Casa Raudha Shelter with a twenty minutes Laughter Yoga

Singapore Women's Association in collaboration with Ren Ci Hospital brought much joy to the residents with our annual Lunar New Year activities. The challenges brought about by Covid is further amplified as the majority of the residents in Ren Ci hospital are pretty much devoid of human interactions due to their health conditions and the multitude of restrictions brought about by the threat of Delta and Omnicron.   

SWA is celebrating the Year of the Tiger with our seniors at Ren Ci Community Hospital on 10 Feb 2022. More details will be available for viewing after the event.

At SWA we have been garnering great support year on year from many caring people to our meaningful causes to empower women. We continually host an annual dinner with all our annual donors, partners, sponsors and volunteers. 
This coming 17th December 2021, we will be hosting a digital version to express our appreciation to all who have contributed massively to the causes we uphold in our mission

Our Pioneer generation grew up during the tumultuous years of the 1930s and early 1960s. They steered the labour force in turbulent times, building a sturdy foundation.The covid situation has greatly reduced the quality of daily lives.This year, SWA improved on our AV preparations to enhance the quality of the celebration with our highly valued partners - Ren Ci Hospital and ACES . We endeavoured to bring some cheer and joy for the residents at Ren Ci on a digital format to continuously enhance the quality of lives of our respected pioneer generation.

SWA will be conducting an e-AGM on 22 May 2021 at 2pm. Details have be sent out to all members. We continue to follow The Commissioner of Charities (COC) and the Chartered Secretaries Institute of Singapore (CSIS)'s Guide on conduct of meetings amid COVID-19.

Charity Car Wash organised by Singapore Women's Association, supported by MCCY, Braddell Heights IRCC. Venue supported by St Gabriel's Secondary School. Product and volunteers sponsored by Dream Workshop. Volunteers sacrificed their Sunday to raise fund for the Lions Home for the Elders and SWA Community Projects. Mr Seah Kian Peng, our GOH, started the event by washing the car. It was a successful and meaningful events and provide opportunities for participants to give back to society.

A pilot session was conducted on 21 Oct 2020 and was well received by the residents. Regular sessions have been conducting on 1st and third Wednesday of the month wef from December. The programme: benefits and four steps of Laughter Yoga, Laugher Yoga Exercises, Singing and Laughter Yoga Bollywood Dance

With the successful National Day Celebration via Zoom, SWA has been conducting Laughter Yoga Class with Ren Ci Community Hospital via Zoom from 230pm to 300pm every Friday via Zoom. The programme: benefits and four steps of Laughter Yoga, Laugher Yoga Exercises, Singing and Laughter Yoga Bollywood Dance. Residents from four wards from Ren Ci Irrawaddy Road and Bt Batok attended.
